The Vision of SpecialityCoffee.ca — Bringing the World’s Best Roasters to Your Home
Posted by SpecialityCoffee.ca
At SpecialityCoffee.ca, our mission is simple yet ambitious: to bring together the best roasters from Canada and around the world in one place.
We believe that good coffee should not be limited by geography. Whether it’s a micro-roaster in Montreal or an award-winning roaster in Thailand, our goal is to travel the world for you — in search of new flavours, new artisans, and unique experiences — and deliver them directly to your home, quickly and easily, anywhere in Canada.

☕ Our Vision
We want to make SpecialityCoffee.ca the reference platform for coffee lovers across the country — a place where Canadians can:
- Discover and taste coffees from the best roasters in Europe, North America, Asia, and beyond.
- Understand the origin, process, and passion behind each roast.
- Enjoy a world-class coffee experience from the comfort of their home.
In the coming months and years, our vision is to offer the best roasters from every continent — from Scandinavian and Italian artisans to Thai pioneers and Canadian champions — all brought together under one virtual roof.
Educating the Coffee Community in Canada
We also see ourselves as educators, but in an accessible and inspiring way. Our goal is to help Canadians deepen their knowledge and passion for coffee, one cup at a time.
Through our articles, tasting notes, and carefully chosen selections, we want to demonstrate that coffee is much more than a morning habit: it’s an experience of origin, craftsmanship, and culture.
What is Specialty Coffee?
Specialty coffee represents the top 5 to 10% of the world's best coffee beans — grown in ideal conditions, hand-harvested, and roasted with precision.
Unlike industrial coffee, often mass-roasted without traceability, specialty coffee focuses on quality, transparency, and aromatic richness. It is evaluated according to an international scoring scale (by the Specialty Coffee Association) and must achieve a score of 80 points or more to be recognized as “specialty.”
Each bean tells a story: that of the terroir, the climate, the soil, and the producer's know-how. When you drink a specialty coffee, you taste this story.
Coffee is the New Wine
Just like wine, specialty coffee celebrates terroir and craftsmanship. Wine lovers are interested in the grape variety, region, and producer — and it’s the same for coffee.
Imagine:
- A washed Ethiopian coffee, lively and fruity — like a fresh Sauvignon Blanc.
- A natural Brazilian coffee, smooth and chocolatey — like a velvety Merlot.
- A barrel-aged Thai coffee, with notes of rum and brandy — like an intense Cabernet.
Each cup has its own personality, its story, and its origin.
The Evolution of Coffee Culture
Ten or twenty years ago, getting coffee from a major chain was the norm — it was considered “good coffee.” Today, this perception is changing radically.
Consumers are discovering that there is a whole universe of flavours beyond commercial blends. Thanks to micro-roasters, innovative fermentation methods, and production transparency, coffee is entering a new era of quality and authenticity.
SpecialityCoffee.ca is part of this movement: by bringing together passionate roasters, innovative producers, and curious customers, we are building a community based on the love of true coffee.
