Black & White Coffee Roasters
Black & White Coffee Roasters was founded in Wake Forest, North Carolina, United States, in 2017 by Lem Butler and Kyle Ramage. Both arrived with major competition credentials: Butler was the 2016 United States Barista Champion, and Ramage won the title in 2017. Their aim was to bring the possibilities of competition coffee to a wider audience.
The range deliberately spans different tastes. Year-round blends offer familiar, approachable profiles, while seasonal releases explore distinctive varieties, fermentation techniques and co-fermented coffees. Producer and processing details are essential to understanding why those releases taste the way they do.
Black & White adapts roast development to the intended cup rather than presenting every coffee as equally light or experimental. Its appeal lies in that breadth: a traditional espresso drinker and someone seeking an unusually fruit-forward filter coffee can approach the same roaster from very different directions.
