De Mello Coffee Roasters

De Mello Coffee Roasters was founded in Toronto, Canada, in 2013 by brothers Felix and Won Cha. Their introduction to specialty coffee came in Australia in 2007. They brought that experience to a small café and roastery in Midtown Toronto, building a business as recognisable for its illustrated packaging as for its coffee.

Behind the colourful identity is a detailed purchasing philosophy centred on traceability and relationships. De Mello publishes information about its coffee buying, and its longstanding Dancing Goats blend draws on a relationship with Brazil’s Legender Coffee.

The selection spans approachable blends, single origins and more experimental releases, with roasting adapted to the coffee rather than one fixed style. The team’s competition record includes first place at the 2018 She’s the Roaster competition, alongside Canadian Coffee in Good Spirits victories in 2018 and 2019.
