Rosso Coffee
Rosso Coffee Roasters was founded in Calgary, Canada, in 2007 by David Crosby and began roasting in 2012. His brother Cole Torode became a key figure in the company’s coffee programme, connecting sourcing and roasting with an accomplished competition career.
Torode won the Canadian Barista Championship in 2018 and 2019, then placed third at the 2019 World Barista Championship. Rosso’s later work with international competitors reflects that same interest in understanding a coffee deeply, from its production to its final preparation.
Through its Rosso Direct programme, the roastery builds relationships with producers and returns to the same farms across harvests. Its selection includes everyday blends as well as distinctive seasonal lots. Regular tasting and attention to consistency guide roasting decisions, while detailed producer stories explain the coffee behind the label. Those long-term relationships give substance to Rosso’s place in Calgary’s coffee community.
