April Coffee: Copenhagen Roaster and Filter Coffee Guide

April Coffee: Copenhagen Roaster and Filter Coffee Guide

April Coffee connects Copenhagen roasting with a close interest in preparation. It is an appealing roaster to explore if you enjoy following a coffee from its farm information to the recipe used to brew it. The useful starting point is the individual release, rather than a general idea of what Scandinavian coffee must taste like.

Patrik Rolf and the April project

Founder Patrik Rolf’s first-person account describes a project inspired by Copenhagen and by seasonality. His background included working in Sweden and Germany before starting April. The company now presents coffee information, brewing guidance and equipment projects alongside its roasted coffees.

That connection between coffee and preparation is relevant at home. A brewer and recipe can help express a lot, but buying the same equipment does not automatically reproduce another person’s cup. Water, grinder and technique still matter.

Filter coffee within a broader range

April’s catalogue separates filter and espresso coffees. Its filter selection can be explored through different producers, varieties and processing methods; the espresso category gives a separate starting point for concentrated drinks. Check the exact version rather than buying only by a familiar farm name.

For filter, compare the current notes with your preferences. If you enjoy fragrant tea, look for a description that emphasises florals or citrus. If you want a more familiar daily cup, read the sweeter or nut-led profiles. These are ways to navigate the descriptions, not fixed promises about a country or roast colour.

Follow the recipe for the particular coffee

April’s coffee-information pages provide farm details and recipes for the coffees it works with. Use the instructions that match the release and brewing device. An April Brewer recipe should not be assumed to transfer unchanged to a V60 or immersion brewer.

Keep a brief record of coffee weight, water weight and grind setting. Taste the drink warm and cooler, then change one variable if needed. Our grind-size guide explains why flow and extraction must be considered together.

Discover April in Canada

Browse the April Coffee collection for current listings and check format, roast information and intended method. Seasonal availability changes, so the roaster’s own catalogue and our selection may differ.

Choose one coffee that fits your routine before arranging a more ambitious comparison. An unfamiliar producer or process is easier to understand when the brewing method is already familiar.
