Las Delicias Javanica Washed comes from Proud Mary Coffee, produced by Erwin "Wingo" Mierisch Jackman and Geoconda Padilla at Finca Las Delicias in Jinotega, Nicaragua, at 1,260–1,450 MASL. The farm was lovingly built by the late Eleane Mierisch — one of Nicaragua's leading lights in coffee processing — who passed away in 2023, leaving Las Delicias in the hands of her nephew Wingo and longtime business partner Geoconda. The Javanica variety has a fascinating origin story: first planted in 2001 from seeds acquired by Eleane's father, genetic testing later revealed it to be an Ethiopian heirloom that travelled to Nicaragua via the island of Java — giving it the nickname "JavaNica." Despite being the smallest farm in the Fincas Mierisch portfolio at just 12 hectares, Las Delicias already earned 4th place in the 2017 Cup of Excellence with this very variety. Sweet, approachable, and deeply comforting, this washed lot delivers notes of caramel, brown sugar, and milk chocolate.
