Onyx Coffee Lab - Kamunyaka AA - Kenya
Tasting notes: Grapefruit, Brown Sugar, Kumquat, Mulling Spice
Kamunyaka AA comes from the Kamunyaka washing station, part of the Iria-Ini Farmers Cooperative Society in Kenya’s central highlands. Located around 1,700 masl, the station works with smallholder producers and is part of an ongoing effort to improve processing, encourage experimentation, and strengthen cup quality across the cooperative. This lot reflects Kamunyaka’s growing potential and renewed focus on producing distinctive specialty coffee.
Processed using a dry-washed method and raised-bed dried, this coffee brings together SL34, Batian, Ruiru 11, and SL28 varieties. The cup offers a balanced combination of grapefruit and kumquat brightness, rounded by brown sugar sweetness and a warming mulling spice character. Roasted to a moderate level, it is suitable for both filter and espresso.
