Datura Coffee - Gesha Village Lot 26/127 Oma - Ethiopia - Natural
Tasting notes: Violet, blueberry, mango, strawberry, nectarine
Lot 26/127 is a natural Gesha 1931 from the Oma block of Gesha Village in Bench Maji, Ethiopia. Grown between 1,931 and 2,040 metres, it offers a whole-cherry interpretation of the same block represented by the washed, honey and anaerobic lots in this selection.
Gesha Village was developed by Rachel Samuel and Adam Overton following their exploration of Ethiopia’s coffee heritage. The estate combines cultivation with native forest conservation and research into Gesha genetics. Its Gesha 1931 selection connects these coffees to the variety’s Ethiopian origins.
After careful sorting, cherries dry whole on raised African beds. Thin initial layers are gradually deepened, with frequent turning over a typical 25-to-30-day drying period. The coffee then rests for at least two months before milling. Datura’s notes of violet, blueberry, mango, strawberry and nectarine bring together floral character and a broad range of fruit. Compared with the washed Oma, this lot highlights the effect of drying with the fruit intact, making it a rewarding addition to a Gesha Village comparison tasting.
