Datura Coffee - Gesha Village Lot 26/126 Oma - Ethiopia - Washed
Tasting notes: Oolong tea, rose, white peach, blueberry, jasmine
Lot 26/126 is a washed Gesha 1931 from Gesha Village’s Oma block in Bench Maji, Ethiopia. The trees grow between 1,931 and 2,040 metres. It offers a cleanly washed counterpart to the natural, honey and anaerobic Oma lots, making it particularly useful for exploring the estate through different processing methods.
Gesha Village was developed by Rachel Samuel and Adam Overton following their exploration of Ethiopia’s coffee heritage. The estate combines cultivation with native forest conservation and research into Gesha genetics. Its Gesha 1931 selection connects these coffees to the variety’s Ethiopian origins.
Cherries are sorted and floated before pulping, then dry-fermented for 12 to 18 hours to break down the mucilage. After washing, the parchment dries in thin layers under shade for 12 to 15 days. It rests for at least two months before milling. Datura’s tasting notes combine oolong tea, rose, white peach, blueberry and jasmine. The tea and floral references give this lot a distinct aromatic identity, with fruit providing another layer. It is a thoughtful choice for drinkers drawn to washed Gesha and detailed comparisons of Ethiopian terroir.
