Tasting notes: Juicy peach, crisp pear and lemonade

This Danche lot comes from registered smallholder farmers around the washing station and is overseen by Habtamu Fikadu Aga of Kuri Mountain Coffee. September Coffee introduced it after three years of working with Habtamu, making this the roaster’s first offering from his work at Danche. It presents the bright, fruit-driven character that September highlights in this Ethiopian harvest.

Pulped coffee undergoes 48–72 hours of submerged fermentation, adjusted for temperature, followed by washing and a further 12-hour soak. Drying takes place on raised beds over 10–12 days. The cup is intensely peachy, with crisp pear sweetness and sparkling, lemonade-like acidity. A light body and refreshing finish keep the fruit clear and lively, particularly in filter brewing.
