Habtamu Fikadu’s Danche is a vibrant washed Ethiopian coffee from the Guji region, produced at an elevation of 2000 metres. This light-roasted lot marks the first time featuring Habtamu’s work from the Danche washing station, following three years of working with his coffees. Sourced from registered smallholder farmers surrounding the station, the coffee features the Ethiopian varieties 74110 and 71458. Cherries are carefully pulped and undergo 48–72 hours of submerged fermentation before being washed, soaked for an additional 12 hours, and slowly dried on raised beds for 10–12 days. The result is an intensely fruit-forward cup with juicy peach and crisp pear flavours, balanced by sparkling, lemonade-like acidity and a fresh green-fruit sweetness. With a light body and lively finish, Habtamu Fikadu’s Danche is an expressive introduction to the new Ethiopian harvest.
