SEPTEMBER - Habtamu Fikadu Chelbesa - Ethiopia - Washed 74158
Tasting notes: Champagne Peach, White Florals, Red Fruits
Habtamu Fikadu’s Chelbesa is a vibrant and elegant washed Ethiopian coffee from the Guji region, produced at 2000 metres above sea level. This light-roasted lot marks the third year of working with Habtamu Fikadu and showcases the consistency and quality of his coffees from Chelbesa. The coffee is produced from the Ethiopian varieties 74110 and 71458 and comes from around 140 smallholder farmers in the Chelbesa washing station area. Carefully processed using a submerged fermentation of 48–72 hours, the coffee is washed, soaked for a further 12 hours, and then slowly dried on raised beds for 10–12 days. In the cup, it offers delicate stone-fruit character reminiscent of white champagne peaches, complemented by white florals, juicy red fruit, apple, pomegranate, and a bright touch of lime. With a light body and sparkling finish, this is an expressive Ethiopian coffee that shines when brewed as a filter.
