Rogue Wave Coffee - Kenya - Kanguya Cherry Ale 2026 - Black Honey
Tasting notes: Cherry, Lime, Orange, Vanilla, Cola
Kanguya Cherry Ale brings together SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 and Batian coffees delivered by smallholders to Kanguya Factory in Murang’a, Kenya. At around 1,900 metres, the area’s cool conditions and volcanic soils support the region’s distinctive coffee production. The factory combines careful cherry selection and processing with practical support for growers, including training, seedlings and technical advice.
For this black honey lot, cherries are depulped and dried with mucilage still attached, with frequent turning on raised beds. The result is a sweet, expressive profile of cherry, lime, orange, vanilla and cola. Rogue Wave recommends two to three weeks of rest, then a 1:16–17 filter ratio at 90–92°C or a 1:2.4–2.6 espresso ratio at 92°C. The product’s 2026 release name is retained; the roaster identifies the harvest as 2025.
