Rogue Wave Coffee - 96B Huong Phung Commune Liberica - Vietnam - Anaerobic Natural
Tasting notes: Lemon, Pear, Orange, Whiskey, Jackfruit, Stevia
This rare Coffea Liberica from Huong Hoa, Quang Tri, Vietnam offers a striking departure from traditional Arabica and Robusta coffees. Sourced by 96B from old French-era Liberica cultivars growing at around 600 metres above sea level, the coffee comes from a region where Liberica is often planted alongside Arabica as a windbreak rather than cultivated as the primary crop. Processed as an anaerobic natural, it showcases the distinctive character of this unusual coffee species and reflects 96B’s long-standing work with Liberica and experimental processing.
In the cup, expect an adventurous combination of lemon, pear, and orange alongside more unusual flavours of whiskey, jackfruit, and stevia. The whiskey-like character adds depth and intrigue, while tropical jackfruit and natural sweetness create a profile unlike conventional specialty coffee. It is an expressive coffee for curious drinkers looking to explore the possibilities of Liberica, and it can be enjoyed across espresso, pourover, and filter brewing.
