Hatch Coffee – Gachatha AB Washed – Kenya

Tasting notes: Red currant, red berries and cane sugar

This AB lot comes from the Gachatha Factory in Karundu, Nyeri, on the slopes of Kenya’s Aberdare Range. The Gachatha Farmers’ Cooperative Society represents more than 1,500 smallholder farmers growing coffee at 1,800–2,100 metres.

Cherries are sorted, pulped and fermented for 12–24 hours before washing, optional soaking and raised-bed drying. The blend of SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 and Batian produces a bright, clean cup with red-fruit acidity and cane-sugar sweetness. Producer: Smallholder members of Gachatha Farmers’ Cooperative Society.
