Gachatha AB Washed is a vibrant Kenyan coffee sourced from the Nyeri region, where smallholder farmers cultivate coffee at elevations of 1800–2100 metres along the slopes of the Aberdare Range. Produced at the historic Gachatha Factory, established in 1963, this coffee comes from a cooperative of more than 1,500 active farmers. The lot brings together renowned Kenyan varieties including SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian, combining distinctive sweetness, structure, and resilience. Carefully handpicked cherries are sorted and pulped before undergoing 12–24 hours of fermentation in concrete tanks, followed by thorough washing and soaking to enhance clarity and brightness. The parchment is then slowly dried on raised beds under carefully managed conditions. In the cup, expect a lively and clean profile with notes of red currant, red berries, and cane sugar. Enjoy it as a filter coffee or modern espresso.
