Kiamugumo is a washed Kenyan coffee from the Nyangeni community in Kirinyaga, grown on the slopes of Mount Kenya at 1,600–1,800+ metres above sea level. Smallholder farmers deliver ripe cherries to the Kiamugumo washing station, where the coffee is depulped and washed using water from the glacier-fed Kii River before being dried on raised African beds. The combination of high elevation, cool growing conditions, and careful processing gives this lot the clean, bright character associated with coffees from Kirinyaga.
The cup brings together juicy orange and cherry with the deeper fruit character of currant. Compared with previous crops, this harvest has a softer acidity and a fuller profile, with dehydrated berry sweetness and hints of baking spice leading into a juicy black cherry finish. With SL-28, SL-34, Ruiru 11, and Batian varieties, Kiamugumo offers a balanced and fruit-driven expression of Kenyan coffee while retaining the clarity of a carefully processed washed lot.
