Danche is a washed Ethiopian coffee from the Gedeb area of Gedeo, grown at 1,950–2,200 metres above sea level. Managed by SNAP Specialty Coffee, the Danche washing station receives cherries from approximately 800 smallholder farmers, with most producers farming around two hectares in the surrounding highlands. The lot is composed of Ethiopian Landrace varieties, primarily Kurume and Wolisho, with other local varieties likely present. These forest-garden coffees are known for their quality potential and distinctive character.
At the station, ripe cherries are sorted by flotation, depulped, and dry-fermented for 96 hours before being washed and dried on raised beds for 12–14 days. The 2026 harvest leans into a pronounced sugary sweetness while maintaining bright acidity throughout the cup. White nectarine and peach-like fruit sit alongside silky berries, sweet tea, and delicate floral tones, creating a lively coffee that reveals new layers as it cools.
