Black & White Roasters – Gesha Village - E12 Anaerobic Natural
Tasting notes: Jasmine, Bergamot, Mango, Cherry, Peach, Tropical Fruit, Oolong Tea
Gesha Village E12 is a distinctive coffee from Gesha Village Estate in Ethiopia’s Bench Maji Zone, a farm founded by Rachel Samuel and Adam Overton near the Gori Gesha Forest, where the Gesha variety originated. The estate has grown to more than 700,000 coffee trees alongside 30,000 native shade trees, with the project working closely with the local Meanit Shasha Woreda community to preserve and celebrate the coffee’s connection to its native region.
This Gesha undergoes a 45-hour semi-anaerobic fermentation in jute bags before being dried on African raised beds in full sun. The resulting cup evolves beautifully with temperature, beginning with jasmine, bergamot, and mango when hot, developing cherry and peach as it cools, and finishing with vibrant tropical fruit and tea-like character. Across the temperature range, expect an elegant profile reminiscent of oolong and Earl Grey tea, with bright acidity and a complex, wine-like finish.
